Saint Joseph is the adoptive father of Jesus and the husband of the Virgin Mary. Joseph, a carpenter, was a direct descendant of King David. He accepted Mary's pregnancy after a visit from an angel, and stayed with Her. He fled with his family to Egypt to save Jesus from Herod's slaughter of children. Considered to be a compassionate, loving man with a deeply ingrained sense of familial devotion and responsibility. Saint Joseph is the patron saint of unborn children, fathers, immigrants, workers, carpenters, married people, travelers, and house hunters, and as such, his image makes a wonderful gift for many occasions.
Saint Joseph stands proudly at twenty-two inches, boldly colored and richly detailed. He carries an ax and a large piece of wood, representing his physical labors that daily supported his family, reminding us of the important of our labors.
